Aurora | Interactive Paper Installation
Art installation
Forest are attractive while alienated to people in contemporary society. The breakthrough of technology and the development of modern cities weakens human abilities of evoking resonance and sensing nature. In this situation, the aim of protecting ecology is often neglected.
Paper artist Jackie Wen collaborates with new media artist Pd Zhang, with team members from their studio (Wen's Art x CT.LAB) to create an interactive paper installation - Aurora. The installation is a simulation of dream forest, it invites people to experience a quiet and magical forest-liked environment. When people touch the top of a 'tree', light is triggered and brighten the whole space.
The installation leads audience to make conversation with nature in a friendly way. When human interacts with 'trees', it demonstrates a perspective that human and nature are closely connected instead of being isolated. Besides, the installation implies the role of human is tiny in front of nature. 'Aurora' is designed for people to develop better understanding between human and natural environment, it drives people to make reflection on the importance of environmental protection.
